Umpire FAQ

How old do you have to be to umpire?

  • The minimum age for an umpire is currently 12 years old.

  • Must be at least two years older than the age group you are umpiring.

How much are umpires paid per game and who handles the payment?

  • Umpire fees are reviewed each year and may change based on other organizations within our leagues. CMYBS handles the direct payments to all CMYBS umpires, either electronically (weekly) or by check (bi-weekly). Payment is based on a completed game card, which should be signed by the CM coach.

Is it okay to stand behind the backstop?

  • At no time does CMYBS approve of a parent or coach standing behind the backstop to either coach their player(s) or interfere with our umpires. This may lead to immediate ejection; each case will be reviewed by the CMYBS Board.
